Community consultations and stakeholder engagement activities will commence in April 2023 and is anticipated to take up to 3 months to cover the targeted mangrove and seagrass coastal and island communities in New Ireland province.

Consultations will begin on the Tabar group of islands, namely, Simberi, Tatau and big Tabar islands around mid-April 2023.
Following the Tabar islands consultations, Infinity Blue team will conduct awareness and education about the ‘New Ireland Mangrove and Seagrass Biodiversity Conservation, Livelihoods and Blue Carbon Project’ in east coast and west Central New Ireland, the Tigak mainland and islands, Djaul islands, New Hanover islands and Mussau and Emirau islands.

Lihir west coast, Tanga and Anir islands and areas in east coast Namatanai will also be visited as potential sites.

After the consultations have been completed for all target sites, Infinity Blue team will follow up with the communities on their decision about participating in the project and for initial consent documents to be prepared for Agreements between the parties claimed by the primary rights holders and the secondary rights holders in the communities. The Agreements must be clearly understood by all stakeholders and will be signed between Infinity Blue (PNG) Limited as the Project Developer and Manager in partnership with the communities in New Ireland province.

Feasibility studies will commence soon after the communities have given their free, prior informed consent to participate in the ‘New Ireland Mangrove and Seagrass Biodiversity Conservation, Livelihoods and Blue Carbon Project’.
